Registration / Admission Procedure

Registration

Admission is open for students qualified to enroll for PPL/CPL/MER. Applicants have to register themselves with the prescribed application at OFS, Chennai.

Medical requirement

Candidates are required to meet the medical standard as per the norms laid down by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), New Delhi. At the time of admission, students have to undergo Class II Medical with the DGCA panelized medical examiners. Students are advised to do their equivalent (mock-up) Class I Medical at the time of admission. However, the candidates have to undergo a comprehensive medical investigation conducted at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM), Bangalore, the Central Medical Establishment (CME), New Delhi or at the Airforce Hospital, Jorhat by prior appointment. This is a mandatory requirement before the issuance of the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL). For more details on medical requirements, visit www.dgca.nic.in.

Medium of instruction

As per ICAO standards, medium of instruction followed is English. This language is used for all purpose, whether correspondence, lectures or for ATC communication. For those students whose native language is not English and for those who do not demonstrate fluency in the language (less than 60% in their 12th standard) additional language training is provided at extra cost.

Admission Centers

Admission takes place throughout the year. Interested students can download a copy of the application form from our website or contact our Head office at Chennai.

Those who wish to do particular courses should check up their respective eligibility criteria pertaining to that course.

1. Application for admission to a course should be made only in the prescribed form, which will be issued along with the prospectus.

2. Application form duly filled in should be sent only to the Admission Office or handed over in person along with (a) Copy of the Mark Sheet of qualifying examination attested by the Gazetted Officer. (b) Prescribed check Fee.

3. Application, which are incomplete or not accompanied by the prescribed documents and registration fee, are liable for rejection.

4. The scrutiny committee will process the application and provisionally select the students on merit.

5. Shortlisted candidates for Pilot Training Program will have to attend an aptitude test. Final selection will be based on their marks in the qualifying examination, performance in the aptitude test.

6. Admission notices will be sent to the selected candidates intimating the dates on which they should report at the admission office with the original certificates

  • Marksheet of the qualifying examination & pass certificate

  • Transfer Certificate

  • Conduct Certificate

  • 6 Passport size colour photographs

  • Medical Certificate (as per DGCA standards)

  • Police Clearance Certificate

After scrutiny of the documents and payment of fees, candidates will be issued "Lettter of Admission" and they should report to the Deputy Director / Chief Flight Instructor of the Flight School at Pondicherry for joining the program.

Students who have opted for hostel accommodation should report to the Hostel Manager in the school for the allotment of rooms.

Refund policy

Tuition and other fees prescribed should be paid on or before the stipulated date as per the laid down guidelines. All fees should be made by DD/ Cheque payable to OFS at Chennai and receipt to be obtained immediately. The refund policy will be as follows and is applicable for the CPL course only:

  • 50% within 1 month

  • 25% within 1-1/2 months

  • 10% within 3 months

No refund will be entertained after the above period. Refund will be made as per the policy prevailing at the time of withdrawal from the course.

Students suspended/dismissed on disciplinary grounds are not entitled for refund and will forfeit their entire fees.

General rules and regulations

  • Students should report to the hangar for classes regularly and they must be in uniform.

  • Smoking and consumption of drugs/alcohol are strictly prohibited.

  • The School maintains strict discipline. Students violating this are liable for severe penalty including expulsion.

  • Ragging of any sort is strictly prohibited.

  • Any student found responsible for any damage to the aircraft, building, furniture or equipment will be punished severely and the cost of damages along with a fine will be recovered.

  • Students are strictly forbidden from organizing or attending any unauthorized meeting in the campus or collecting money for any purpose without the prior written permission.

  • Students must conduct themselves at all times in a fitting manner to bring credit to themselves and to the school.

  • Students should make use of all opportunities provided to them to acquire best skills and knowledge during their period of stay at the school.

  • Students should actively participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
