Orient Flight Aviation Academy to be launched in Mysore

– To offer a range of Flying, Manitenance & Traning services catering to the aviation Industry –

Mysore, Jan 2016: Orient Flight Aviation Academy (OFAA) – an academy for training for airline pilots and flying enthusiasts has inaugurated its flying school in Mysore. OFAA is a part of Orient Flight School – one of India’s oldest & Premier flying schools, and a division of Hindustan Group of Institutions and has been at the forefront of providing training and certification to flying aspirants for the past 20 years.

With this inauguration, OFAA will offer excellent hands on flight training facilities for aspiring pilots in India. Candidates can enroll for flight training courses like the two year Commercial Pilots License, 6 months Private Pilots license or the beginners course for Student pilots license courses depending on their skill, interest and qualifications.

The Academy also offers Commercial Pilots License with an integrated Degree course through the UGC approved B. Sc (Aviation) degree from Hindustan University, Chennai. The programs offers also includes Assistant/Flight Instructor Rating & License Renewal and Foreign License Conversion.

OFAA is approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India. Established in 2015, OFAA operates in Mysore with its sister concern Orient Flights School at Pondicherry which has been in existence since 1994 and has trained hundreds of pilots. The flight training at OFAA meets international standard in accordance with regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. OFAA has fleet of 3 Cessna 172 aircrafts. The Fleet strength is set to increase in the near future.

 

All class rooms areequipped with modern training facilities located in the Administrative complex of the School. The Complex also hosts a Simulator Lab, The Operations Wing at the Airport complex has a Flight Briefing cum Class room where Pre Flight medical tests are also carried out.

Eligibility

Candidates who are 16 years of age or older and who have completed their 12th Standard School education or equivalent with Mathematics and Physics are eligible to apply for the Commercial Pilots Course. This is a two year course requiring a minimum of 200 hours of flying time for flight training. On ground training for DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation) Examinations will also be undertaken during the course period covering subjects such as, Air Regulations Air Navigation; Aircraft and Engines; Radio Telephony etc. The Course also includes training on a modern Flight Simulator – French Manufactured ALSIM AL – 50 for visual flying, Instrument flying and practice of “upset prevention and recovery training(UPRT)  Completion of this CPL will make the candidates eligible for taking up a career as Commercial Pilots with all leading aircraft operators.

For those who wish to take up flying as a passion, the school also offers a 6 month course that will equip them to fly a plane with a valid License – Private Pilot License candidates who are 16 years or older and who have completed their 10th Standard of school studies are eligible to apply for this course. Training for this course involves a minimum of 50 hours from Flight Training. Students will also be given on ground training for DGCA(Director General of Civil Aviation) Examinations covering the following subjects including  – Air Regulation; Air Navigation; Aviation Meteorology Radio Telephony, to name a few.

Eligible candidates can apply for the Commercial Pilots Licence Course which makes them eligible to take up a flying career with any commercial airliner on completion of their course. An added advantage for those who sign up for the Commercial Pilots License can also obtain UGC approved B. Sc (Aviation) degree from Hindustan University, Chennai.
