Refresher course

Orient Flight school hosted the Refresher training for experienced Pilot Instructors in India

  1. The new Civil Aviation policy has been announced by the Government, just a few days ago and coincidentally, most Chief Flying Instructors (CFIs) from various Flying Training Schools in India were converged on to Puducherry. The event by itself is not new, but an annual feature; where all Pilot Instructors get together for Refresher training and brain storming sessions, for 3 days. However, what is significant is; Orient Flight School – a constituent of Hindustan Group of Educational Institutions and a private institution of repute   – has been approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to conduct the Course.
  2. The field of aviation and flying training being very dynamic, Concepts, Procedures, Techniques and Regulations change rather quickly.  A CFI, who supervises other Pilot Instructors and plans the training of student pilots has a tremendous responsibility of making students in their teens, become professional pilots.  This objective has to be achieved without compromising on safety of human beings and the machines they operate.  The training, no longer deals just with “How to fly an aero pane” but with much more complex issues, including human psychology.  Present day aviation curriculum focuses on Scenario Based training (SBT), Upset Recovery Techniques and practicing emergency drills and procedures realistically, on the Flight Simulator.
  3. The annual  Course focuses on refining the Instructional skills of the individual; high lighting the changes in Regulatory mechanism and procedures, exchange of training value episodes from fellow participants and importantly learning from unfortunate accidents or incidents. Interestingly, on 20 June 2016, Orient Flight School with its illustrious history of 22 years of Pilot training has been dedicated to and remembers its Late Founder and educationist, Dr KCG Verghese. The very next day 51 participants from various parts of the country arrived at Puducherry for the Course held from 22 to 24 June, 2016.
