Instrument Rating

Instrument Rating (IR)

Orient Flights Aviation Academy (OFAA) offers Instrument Rating to provide additional training and instruction beyond what is required for a private or commercial pilot license, including rules & procedures specific to instrument flying, additional instruction in meteorology, and more intensive training in flight solely by reference to instruments.

Course Description

Instrument Rating is an additional qualification that a pilot must have in order to pilot an aircraft under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). Having this qualification enables a pilot to legally and safely operate a properly equipped aircraft solely by reference to flight instruments.

A person applying for an Instrument Rating must receive prescribed ground training and classes to be able to pass knowledge test and check-ride. The knowledge test will cover areas such as Air Traffic Regulations, Air Traffic Control (ATC) System, Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Navigation which will analyse the applicant’s expertise on flight procedures, meteorological conditions and related decision making skills.
